  • Harmonica: Recommend bringing a Hohner Special 20 or Lee Oskar harmonica in the key of C.
  • Book: Blues Harp by Tony Glover. (Available on Amazon for about $20.)

A Letter from the Instructor:

My name is Steve "Rube" Rubenstein. I have been playing harmonica professionally for almost 50 years. For the last 20 years, I have fronted my own band, Rube & the Rhythm Rockers. The band is based out of Chico, CA. I used to live in Paradise until 11/8/18. The Camp Fire burned us out. Eventually, my wife and I settled in Carson City.

This class is designed to put you on the path to becoming proficient at playing the harmonica. If you are a beginner, you will not be proficient after just three classes. However, if you follow my instruction and practice what you learn, you will become good enough to participate in jam sessions and sound good. If you really apply yourself, you should eventually be able to play in a band. That will take time and lots of practice, but this class will put you on the path to enjoying the harmonica.
