Art in Motion: Create a Wire Mobile

CourseGraphic Discover the imaginative world of Alexander Calder, inventor of the hanging mobile, and create your own unique kinetic sculpture. Learn basic wire-working techniques while combining wire, cardboard, and colorful elements to design a balanced, eye-catching piece. Suitable for adults, teens, and creative families, this hands-on class encourages artistic exploration and playful expression.

$10 materials fee.

Supplies required:
• Heavy scissors suitable for cutting cardboard
• A piece of heavy recycled cardboard at least 14 x 16 inches to protect the table surface (an old shipping box works well)
• Wire cutters for 18-gauge wire
• Needle-nose or chain-nose pliers

Notice

Please read:  Students must bring: -1 pair heavy scissors suitable for cutting cardboard. - A piece of heavy recycled cardboard at least 14x16" to protect table surface. (Old Amazon box, for example) -Wire cutters to cut 18 gauge wire -Needle nose or chain nose pliers Optional: • Permanent markers or to color cardboard as desired • Protective eyewear and gloves • Round nose or looping pliers • Flat, nylon jaw pliers for straightening wire All other materials and supplies sufficient to create one mobile will be furnished in class.
