Ghost Hunt: Mackay Mansion

Learn the fundamentals of organizing, researching, and conducting a paranormal investigation during an afternoon classroom session from 3 to approximately 5 p.m. Then, from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., put those skills into practice with an overnight investigation at the historic Mackay Mansion in Virginia City. Built in 1859 by George Hearst and later owned by silver magnate John Mackay, the mansion remains one of Nevada's most famous haunted locations, featuring original furnishings, wallpaper, chandeliers, and carpet. Featured on Ghost Adventures and The Dead Files, the mansion is known for reports of paranormal activity, including two young girls on the staircase, Harriet the maid in the parlor, and the mysterious Shadow Man upstairs. Even actor Johnny Depp reportedly experienced his first paranormal encounter within its walls. Join fellow enthusiasts for an unforgettable evening exploring one of the West's most legendary haunted sites.

Please read: Notes:
This class is open to students 16 years of age and older.
The 2-hour afternoon class is standard for all investigations.
After the class, students will have time to drive to the location and take a dinner break before the field trip ghost hunt begins.
The field trip ghost hunt starts promptly at 7:00 p.m. Please arrive early or on time. Late arrivals will not be permitted to enter the prison.
All participants must be sober to attend this event.

Dress Code:
Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes suitable for walking. Dress in warm layers, as portions of the investigation will take place outdoors.
Do NOT wear: Sparkly or jingly clothing or accessories, Perfume or strongly scented products. (These can create false positives during the investigation).

Please feel welcome to bring: Flashlight, Camera, Voice recorder, Dowsing rods (optional), and any other paranormal investigation equipment you would like to use. (No Ouija Boards), Warm clothing for the outdoor portions of the investigation.
