Unpaved Roads: Design, Maintenance & Stabilization - Ely

« back to classes page
With one third of our national transportation system being unpaved and a number of the local systems having more miles of unpaved roads than paved, the design and maintenance of that system is a major concern of those agencies.  This full day program looks at the service level of the unpaved road to determine the maintenance and materials used to maintain that service level.  The student will discuss the hidden costs of an unpaved road to both the agency and the driving public.
As the Service Level of an unpaved road increases, the cost of maintenance increases due to the increasing speed and volume of the traffic.  Short of paving that roadway what can an agency use to reduce those maintenance costs?  This course looks at the products being used as “Stabilizers”, identifying the family of products and look at the installation, maintenance and environmental impact of the products
