Acrylic Painting

Please read:  $25 materials cost is paid directly to the instructor on the first day of class. No class on 10/25 or 11/29. Materials List For Acrylics 2024 I am listing the materials by the week, so you will know what to bring for that particular session. I am giving the full list of materials so you can purchase them in one or two trips. If the items can be purchased at Walmart or Hobby Lobby or brought from home, I put a * next to the item. If the item is a fine art item, I recommend purchasing at Nevada Fine Arts. They will give you a 10% discount if you show this list. Bring the following every week: 1. Acrylic paints – pyrrol red, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow, magenta, phthalo blue, Indian yellow, titanium white, carbon black, burnt sienna, raw umber, yellow ochre (make sure these are high quality paints. Golden, Liquitex (not basic), Atelier, Sennellier are all good choices.) 2. *Paper towels 3. *Paper plates 4. *Bucket for water 5. *Scissors 6. *2” Masking tape or blue tape 7. * #2 Pencil 8. *Board to work on (can be foam core) 9. Variety of brushes – pointed and chisel, and a 1.5” house painting brush Week 1- Mini Landscape Series In addition bring the first week: 1.1/2 of 22x30 sheet of 140 lb watercolor paper (you will need a total of 2 sheets plus a sheet of yupo and a canvas for the session) 2. Moulding or Modeling Paste 3. small palette knife 2. 6 photos of landscapes from your collection or from free photos online Week 2 – Yupo Flowers In addition, bring: 1. Sheet of 20x26 yupo plastic 2. *90% alcohol 3. *Spray bottle for alcohol 4. Watercolor pencils or oil pastels 5. *Salt 6. Metallic gold paint Week 3 & 4 – Flying or Floating, or Swimming In addition bring: 1. ½ Sheet of 22x30 wc paper 2. Photos of something that floats, flies or swims – several of the same object in a variety of sizes from 2” to 1” Week 5 & 6- Portrait with Flowers and Gold In addition bring: 1.16x20 canvas 2. Metallic gold acrylic paint 3. Pictures of flowers 4. A picture of someone you would like to paint. Should be about 8x11 Week 7 – Layering & Marking In addition bring: 1. ½ sheet wc paper 2. Variety of marking tools, such as crayons, oil pastels, colored pencils, charcoal, sharpees, and anything else you have on hand 3. *Newspapers or magazines 4. Alcohol in sprayer (from previous lessons) 5. sponge
