Additional support available in Spanish! This is a hybrid course, requiring reliable access to a computer and the internet, as a portion of the class takes place online and the rest is conducted in person in a classroom setting. To help ensure student success, we recommend that participants hold a high school diploma or equivalent, have an 11th-grade reading level, 9th-grade math skills, and strong study and test-taking habits.
Attendance on the first day is mandatory and in-person. Students who do not attend will be automatically dropped from the course.
Orientation is on the first day of class and will be held in person on Monday, July 13th, 2026. Otherwise, Monday and Thursday sessions are online, and Tuesday and Wednesday sessions are in-person.
Students must purchase and wear scrubs (any color) for all in-person classes (approximate cost: $25). Each student is also required to bring a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff (approximate cost: $25-$35). Hands-on lab sessions involve practicing on classmates under close instructor supervision.
The certification exam will be held on Thursday, October 1st, 2026 from 5:30pm - 8:30pm. Students are scheduled to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam on the last day of class. If a student is unable to test on the scheduled date, they must complete their initial certification exam within 90 days of course completion. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule and complete the exam within this timeframe.
No class on 09/07/26 in observance of Labor Day holiday.
This fast-paced course requires a strong time commitment both in class and for homework. Students agree not to miss more than 4 class days during the session.
