Dental Radiation Health and Safety Certification

This course is designed for working dental assistants with enough experience to understand terms and concepts related to dental assisting, particularly dental radiography. Participants will view presentations and take a pre and post-test and must score at least 80% on the post-test to pass with three attempts.
 
The course contents have been vetted and approved by the state dental board and consist of the following:
History, introduction to ionizing radiation, x-ray tube head components, Kvp, mA, density, contrast, somatic and gonadal effects, ALARA concept, other safety considerations, terminology, traditional dental film components, processing, errors, film placement, parallel and bisecting techniques, placement devices, angulations, anatomic landmarks, jurisprudence, infection control, extra oral, digital, and 3D imaging.
