Monastery Retreat

CourseGraphic Experience a time of peace and reflection during a 3-day retreat at a northern California monastery. The Abbey of New Clairvaux is a Catholic Cistercian monastery near Chico. However, you need not be Catholic or Christian to attend the retreat. Explore your spirituality among the walnut groves and vineyards through silence, a group session with one of the abbey monks and a group book discussion. The abbey is on the site of Leland Stanford’s massive wine-making operation and features its own on-site winery. Course fee includes guestroom and all meals. You must provide your own transporation to and from the monastery.

Please read:  Suggested book for group discussion session at the monastery is “The Spirituality of Imperfection: Storytelling and the Journey to Wholeness” by Ernest Kurtz and Katherine Ketcham,” available on Each student is responsible for transportation to and from the monastery. Course fee includes housing and vegetarian meals. There are single and double rooms, so you may be sharing a room with another attendee. You may leave Sunday morning or afternoon or stay till Monday morning.
