There are 2 single rooms and 1 double room still available at the abbey. When you enroll, tell us whether you prefer a single or double room and if you're willing to share a room with another participant. Each student is responsible for transportation to and from the monastery. You will need to arrive there between 2:30 and 5 p.m. on Sept. 14. You may leave on Sunday or on Monday morning. The course fee includes a single or double room and three vegetarian meals a day, the quality of which depends on the monk who is cooking that day. You may bring your own microwaveable food, but the kitchen is not available for cooking meals. The monks live in a cloistered community which is closed to visitors, and they are rarely seen except at church services. The Grand Silence (no talking) is observed each day from 8 p.m. till after breakfast. If you desire additional silence, other participants will respect that. Suggested book for a group discussion at the monastery is “The Return of the Prodigal Son: A Story of Homecoming” by Henri Nouwen, available at amazon.com.
