Nevada Pesticides Training - Elko

« back to classes page

It is not quite a hunting license, but you do need a state-issued licensed to spray pesticides. In 2017, the Nevada legislature passed laws that significantly influenced pest control operations. For a person to spray pesticides, he or she must first obtain a license from the Nevada Department of Agriculture.

To obtain a license from the Nevada Department of Agriculture, a government applicator must complete a competency examination prior to obtaining the license. Here is where the Nevada LTAP can help.

Nevada LTAP is offering a training program to prepare agency personnel to pass the examination.  The two-day training course will last approximately six hours on the first day, followed by a three-hour test preparation on the second day.

For applicators who are currently licensed, the training program also serves as Continuing Education Units (CEU’s).  For license renewal, twelve credit hours are required in a four-year period.

Topics include safe pesticide handling practices, herbicide classification and noxious weed identification and management. The second day of training includes a review and practice test.

Who Should Attend

  • Anyone who prepares, stores, handles or applies pesticides
  • Those who supervise the use of pesticides
  • Road maintenance and construction workers
  • Current pesticide applicators seeking Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
