Transform dinner into an exotic adventure with handcrafted Persian, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food. Learn to make a vegetarian, gluten-free eggplant appetizer with whey sauce and flavorful herbs, onion, garlic and nuts. Follow that with a decorative salad called oloviyeh with potato, egg, chicken, pickle, fresh peas and a homemade sauce. Move on to an eggplant entrée with meat and tomato sauce and white or brown rice called tah-chin-bademjan. Lodi wine country, an old grape growing region, is emerging as one of California’s premier wine destinations. Spend two nights at Mettler Winery’s vineyard guest house and enjoy a reception tasting of this fifth-generation winemaker’s award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. Explore the area’s most famous wineries during a private shuttle tour with a hosted lunch. Visit Robert Mondavi’s childhood stomping grounds and spend time discovering downtown Lodi’s quaint historic district and its shops, restaurants and craftsman houses. Course fee includes lodging, winery tours and some meals. You must furnish your own transportation to the winery.
